TITLE: Train Control Systems Engineer

Hours: 40/week   Schedule: 9am - 5 pm (Monday-Friday)   Rate: Contact TSE  Site: Emeryville, CA

Duties:

- Performing Safe Braking Distances (SBD) calculations utilizing train control simulation software.

- Creating design for the Automatic Train Control System, system block design by analyzing the results from the software.

- Creating Control Limit Line Drawings (CLLD) for the automatic train control system.

- Making modifications to the wiring book (Speed encoding logic wirelist) of the track circuits based on Multiplexer systems to stop the trains at safe distance to avoid collision.

- Creating mathematical models and simulations for train safe breaking models.

- Preparing design drawings based on the latest NEC (National Electrical Code) and AREMA standards.

- Creating raceway layout drawings, raceway, and cable schedules, termination details, train control room and wayside routing details, elevations, and train control equipment (Vital and Non-Vital equipment) design Route and Aspect, Track and Signal, Typical and Detailed Circuits, etc.

- Designing Train Control System for Relay based interlockings, Microprocessor based interlocking (VHLC and VPI).

- Generating technical specifications explaining the design requirements and list of equipment, and products to install.

- Meeting with clients and working collaboratively with civil, structural, and other engineering teams.

- Reviewing contractor’s document and drawing submittals, including plans and analyses.

- Creating single line drawings.

- Creating temporary power staging design details.

- Developing electrical panel design drawings and parameters for the low voltage distribution system.

- Generating Grounding calculations for existing equipment and new equipment’s.

- Generating Voltage drop calculations for the new cables required for the design.

- Creating Circuit breaker coordination study reports using Electrical Power Systems Analysis (ETAP) Software.

Requirements:

Requires Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related technical field and 12 months in Train Control Engineering or other related occupation

Proficient knowledge may be obtained through education or experience

- Supervisory Train Control using ATS (Automatic Train Supervision) a CAD (Computer Aided Dispatch) System in CBTC (Communication Based Train Control System), Fixed Block System using track circuits

- Audio Frequency Track Circuits, Power Frequency Track Circuits, AC Track Circuits

- Railway Systems Vital and Non-Vital equipment which included wayside equipment

- High-speed rail systems, electrical interfaces, and system integration with hardware and software.

- AutoCAD

- Electrical systems, switch gear and protection, load calculations, and breaker coordination studies.

TITLE: Traction Power Systems Engineer

Hours: 40/week   Schedule: 9am - 5 pm (Monday-Friday)   Rate: Contact TSE  Site: Emeryville, CA

Duties:

- Development of AC and DC traction power supply systems.

- Design traction power substations, feeder, and equipment sizing, site plans, duct bank and conduit layouts, auxiliary power supply systems, and control circuits.

- Preparing design drawings based on the latest NEC (National Electrical Code) and AREMA standards.

- Use of train traction load-flow simulation package to model traction power supplies.

- Perform load flow simulations and prepare reports.

- Creating Circuit breaker coordination study reports using Electrical Power Systems Analysis (ETAP) Software.

- Production of electrical protection schemes and relay settings.

- Interpreting and preparing revisions for engineering plans, drawings, and specifications.

- Support of overall engineering design effort for traction power systems using Computer Aided Design (CAD) application.

- Development of specifications for electrical, instrumentation, and control systems that includes various traction power equipment.

- Studies and prepares single line diagrams, elementary diagrams, panel layouts design drawings and parameters for the low voltage distribution system.

- Procurement of major electrical equipment which includes reviewing technical specifications, and drawings.

- Coordination with all disciplines involved (Architectural, Mechanical, Civil, and Structural), including outside consultants and contractors for systems integration and design.

- Coordinate construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, or testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, or customer requirements.

- Creating temporary power staging design details.

- Performs site investigations in substations and along railroad tracks.

- Initiates and evaluates design and field engineering changes during construction.

- Reviewing contractor’s documents and drawing submittals, including plans and analyses.

- Production of earthing and bonding designs and calculations for existing and new equipment.

May telecommute.

Requirements:

Requires Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related technical field.

Proficient knowledge may be obtained through education or experience.

- Power flow study & analysis in AC/DC systems.

- Electrical systems, switch gear and protection, load calculations, and breaker coordination studies.

- PLC logic and programming using digital logic design, microprocessors.

- AC & DC distribution systems.
